DATA ANALYTICS: Various Part-time Positions
Part-time Lecturer (non-tenure-track)
The Interdisciplinary Data Analytics program at Tufts University is seeking part-time lecturers for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters. Part-time lecturers are needed to teach the following courses:
- Python and Machine Learning for Data Analysis (6-week course second half of semester) : The candidate will be expected to teach one six week course in the second half of fall 2019 semester. The primary teaching interests of the successful candidate will be in data science and machine learning to include fundamentals of Python for data analysis: Python coding, statistical and computational methods, querying data sources, data engineering and management, and data visualization. The program is especially interested in candidates with experience in applications of data analysis and machine learning
- Communicating with Data (full semester course): The primary teaching interest of the successful candidate will be in written and oral expository communication informed by data visualization principles and incorporating various digital tools. Students will learn to critically evaluate and design effective graphical displays for intended audiences.
- Introduction to Data Visualization (6-week course first half of semester): The primary teaching interest of the successful candidate will be in interactive data visualization for data analytics. The program is especially interested in candidates with experience in using Tableau, including connecting and querying data sources, and creating and publishing dashboards.
- Introduction to Data Management and Databases (6-week course second half of semester) The primary teaching interest of the successful candidate will be in principles of data organization and management including desktop and cloud-based database management systems: relational database concepts, database design, Excel, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Python and Machine Learning for Data Analysis An M.S. or Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related discipline relying on modeling and machine learning techniques in the context of data analysis. Experience with data analysis and machine learning using Python is required.
Communicating with Data A Master’s degree or Ph.D. candidate in Design, Communications, Informatics, Computer Science, or related discipline. Education and experience with different types of professional communications and data visualization methods is required.
Introduction to Data Management and Databases An M.S. or Ph.D. candidate in, Math, Computer Science or related discipline. Experience with proprietary and open-source database management systems is required. Expertise with Excel and (SQL) is required.
Introduction to Data Visualization An M.S. or Ph.D. candidate in a discipline related to the modern visualization of data. Education and experience with data visualization methods and tools is required. Experience with data visualization using Tableau is preferred.
