Job Duties
The College of Education & Human Development, Department of Counseling, Health & Kinesiology, seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning spring or fall, 2020. The appointment is for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health & Kinesiology. Successful candidates will teach a broad range of courses in health and exercise science at the undergraduate/graduate level with greater emphasis in health promotion and wellness.

Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic enviromnent that embraces diversity. Candidate will also work collaboratively with faculty to build a comprehensive Health & Kinesiology program supporting diverse populations. The supervision of field based students, student teachers, and internship students are also possible. Mentorship and advisement of students are essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary. Scholarly activity with publications in referred journals as well as attendance and presentations at professional meetings is essential. Quality performance will also be expected in teaching, student mentorship, community service, as well as active University Committee participation. Depends on course schedule. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses.

Minimum Education/Experience


An earned doctorate in Health & Kinesiology or related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD may be considered if completed by beginning of teaching semester. Evidence of scholarly activity with publications in referred journals; attendance and presentations at professional meetings. Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service to students, employees, and the community. Ability to multitask.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Experience teaching Health & Kinesiology related coursework at a college/university.
NCHEC, ACSM or other health related certifications
