 The Office of Research hasan opening for a part-time (50% FTE)University Staff (unclassified) Research Program Manager position.

 Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support ofresearch activities.  Functions includecontracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreementpreparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsorcommunication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance,research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction,environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use,disposal and training.

 Program Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of aprogram, function or work unit, including the Development and implementation ofprocesses consistent with college, school or departmental strategies andprocesses.  These positions typically donot supervise others.

 Job Summary:The ColoradoSchool of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is uniquely defined by its history, andcollaborative identity across three universities (the Universityof Colorado, ColoradoState University and the Universityof Northern Colorado) and the associatedcollective strengths. The mission is to protect and promote health acrossColorado, nationally, and globally through education, research, and practiceactivities. 

 The Office of Research is looking to hire a part-time (50% FTE) ResearchProgram Manager to provide administrative support for grant preparation(literature searches, biosketches, assembly of final document, timelines,tables, graphs, etc.), project management, meeting support (e.g., scheduling,minutes), and reporting in addition to database management and statisticalanalysis for research projects, and preliminary data analysis to support largemultidisciplinary grant applications as needed.

 Examples of Work Performed:The Research Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operationof the Office of the Research and provide direct support to the Associate Deanfor Research that includes project management for large multidisciplinary andinter-institutional grants and collaborations; meeting with investigators todetermine the parameters of their projects and consulting with the ADR toidentify the best resources to meet the needs; performing literature searchesand maintaining shared drives for investigators; maintaining appropriaterecords of work/service performed; and preparing data analysis to support thepreparation of grants; and data analysis to support the Office of the AssociateDean’s annual reporting requirements. 

 Other duties include:
  • Researchgrant requirements and qualifications
  • Performliterature searches and maintain databases of relevant literature
  • Assistin preparation of yearly progress reports
  • Preparepresentation materials for ASPPH, faculty senate, and Dean of the School ofPublic Health
  • Providedatabase management and statistical analysis for research projects
  • Createdatabases from multiple resources
  • Providetables, reports, analysis as directed by project leaders
  • Provideinput into publications and interdepartmental or inter-institutional projects
  • Createdatasets as needed for analysis
  • Providedocumentation of analyses


QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Abachelor’s degree in public health, business administration, biostatistics,epidemiology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • Substitution:A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experiencemay be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
  • Theposition requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience,including direct responsibility for supporting multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’sdegree in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, health evaluation orsocial sciences or related field can substitute for the bachelor’s degree andthe research environment experience on a year-for-year basis
  • 5years data analysis experience in the health and human services, or relatedhealth epidemiology field
  • Atleast three years of experience in a research environment

  • Experiencewith project management support for research teams including creating activityplanning and sequencing, setting timelines, scheduling meetings, takingminutes, organizing and storing documents, collecting biosketches, creatingtables and graphs, preparing reference lists, and assembling final grantdocuments
