Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Art – Digital Art & Design
The NASAD-accredited Department of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Alabama seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August of 2020. Teaching responsibilities will include varied levels and types of digital media. The applicant must hold the Master of Fine Arts in Art and Technology, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a terminal degree in a related area. Preferred qualifications include experience in the design industry; proficiency in multimedia, animation, motion graphics, and print and web design; skill in using current software (InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Photoshop, and 3D applications) and in printing (digital, offset, 3-D); strong commitment to teaching; willingness to take part in curriculum development; and collegiality in working with other creative people. Among the additional expectations are an active professional record; willingness to share oversight of Mac computer lab; providing department and university service such as student advising; mentoring of internships and independent studies; and serving on committees. Advanced knowledge of Canvas is strongly desired. Salary is commensurate with degree and experience.
The University of North Alabama, established in 1830, is the oldest four-year university in the state.
