Expanding offerings in Business Analytics is providing an exciting career opportunity within the Department of Management at Clemson University. We invite applications for one tenure track Assistant Professor position in Business Analytics to begin in Fall 2020.
We are seeking candidates who are committed to publishing high quality research in top journals that will impact the field, who can interact and work effectively with peers across the Management Department and teach Business Analytics courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to teach at a high-level consistent with Clemson's College of Business standards. The Department of Management is an academic unit within the College of Business. The Department has over 35 faculty members and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with seven areas of emphasis, a Master of Science in Management, and a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Information Systems, Operations and Supply Chain management, and Strategy / Entrepreneurship / Organization Behavior. In addition, the Management department supports the MBA program, which includes a concentration in Business Analytics.
Over recent years, the Business Analytics and Information Systems group has consistently ranked highly in productivity in top Information Systems journals like MISQ, ISR, JMIS, JAIS, etc. and individual faculty have consistently been ranked as top researchers (e.g., Top 100 researchers based on publications in the elite "Basket of 6" information system journal set). The Business Analytics and Information Systems group actively encourages participation in the research community, holding senior editorial positions at top-tier disciplinary journals; participating in academic conferences; giving keynote speeches and holding leadership roles in professional societies. The department has an active PhD program. Recent Business Analytics and Information Systems PhD graduates work at research institutions such as Washington State University, HEC Montreal, and Colorado State, among others. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. (or anticipate completing all requirements for the doctorate by August 15, 2020) in management or a closely related field. Individuals should be capable to teach core Business Analytics and Data Science related courses. Candidates should have begun to establish a record of excellence in research evidenced by research published and/or targeted at top journals. Candidates should demonstrate a background and/or interest in technical or decision-oriented business analytics.
Research expertise in econometrics at the organizational, platform, market or industry levels is preferred. Preference will be given to those applicants whose research enhance and extend those of the existing faculty and leverages the benefits of being in a large interdisciplinary department. Current topics of interest include applying analytical research techniques to such topics as: IT strategy, online commerce, software and platform businesses, IT enabled supply chains and logistics, IT security, computer-aided decision support and recommendation systems, among others.
