The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) works to enhance the ability of governments and other organizations to provide environmental programs and services (e.g. water, stormwater, etc.) in effective and financially sustainable ways. The EFC works exclusively on high impact public service work to guide and educate practitioners and policymakers who are responsible for managing environmental programs and services. EFC influences thousands of local communities through interactive training, direct assistance and advising, applied research, and innovative information dissemination. In addition, EFC works with decision-makers to assess and improve environmental finance policies at regional, state, and national levels. Visit efc.sog.unc.edu to learn more about the EFC.
The Executive Director (ED) will lead and oversee the management of all activities pertaining to strategic planning, project delivery, business development, budgeting, financing, and personnel administration of the Environmental Finance Center (EFC). With assistance from senior level EFC staff, the Executive Director will be primarily responsible for designing, acquiring funding for, and implementing the multiple programs of the EFC and will manage other EFC staff to ensure completion of projects. This position will report to the Dean.

Educational Requirements

Master’s degree in business, public administration, environmental finance, or related field.

Qualifications and Experience

Eight years of experience managing similar organizations (preference for university based public service groups) and prior knowledge of environmental finance topics is preferred. Work is centered in Chapel Hill, but requires occasional travel and consultation around the state and beyond.
