Assistant Director, MBA Program Office - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB) develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the effective delivery of an exceptional MBA experience for approximately 950 Full-time and Flex/Evening MBA students, including activities and responsibilities relating to both the academic and co-curricular components of the MBA program. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs of the MBA Program Office, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as an academic advisor for multiple cohorts of students in either the Full-time or Flex/Evening MBA Program—overall 140-210 students, depending on which program and cohort they are currently advising - which includes regular communication with students regarding curriculum planning, degree progress, and academic difficulties (if any).
  • As needed, serves as general liaison with other university offices (e.g., University Registrar, Academic Resource Center, Counseling and Psychiatric Service, Office of Global Services) to support students with any other academic or personal issues.
  • Works as part of a team of 9 student service/program office professionals who together oversee and promote excellence in all aspects of the MBA student experience - including management of both the academic experience (e.g., curriculum planning, registration, graduation audit) and the co-curricular experience (e.g., student government and clubs, leadership development, celebratory events, graduation).
  • This Assistant Director will play an instrumental role in the academic support of MBA students, including the oversight, planning and execution of six MBA exam periods per year. This position is also responsible for supporting the international student population to supplement their overall student experience.
  • Actively participates in the cross-function team's overall goal that any one member can support the specialized responsibilities of any other member.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2-3 years in a student services and/or higher education environment, which may be substituted with experience in a comparable MBA program;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with some knowledge of database software
  • Multi-tasker, extremely organized, and have the ability to work in a high pressured environment
  • Self-starter with flexibility and adaptability in handling to fluctuating demands
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and problemsolving skills

Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in a University setting
