Senior Analyst, Sponsored Research & Programs (Post-Award) Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201907023802 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $53,700 - $92,900 Position Information Functions independently, under general supervision from the Sponsored Research & Programs Supervisor (Post Award), to provide fiscal operations of extramurally funded projects and programmatic activities held within the organization's diverse award portfolio. The incumbent will provide comprehensive and advanced financial analyses to Principal Investigators and Program Directors to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of revenue and expense reporting and to enable effective short- and long-range planning and adherence to University and sponsor policies and procedures. Maintain fiscal integrity for all funds and accounts, and ensure all funds are in auditable/reportable condition. The customer audience includes a complement of SOM units (Dean's Office, the Division of Biomedical Sciences, the Division of Clinical Sciences, Center for Healthy Communities, Student Affairs, Undergraduate Medical Education, and Graduate Medical Education), as well as collegial collaborators, external business partners, and community-based organizations. Additionally will provide comprehensive and advanced analytical and financial management support in the coordination and processing of proposals of complex scope, budget development, contract and grant administration, and award management and closeout activities as required for both research and clinical. The primary focus of this position is Post-Award administration; however, will provide Pre-Award support to the School of Medicine on an as-needed basis. Experience Experience Requirement Experience in contract and grant programmatic/budgetary analysis and reporting; preparing fiscal and progress reports for submission to sponsor or review by management; and preparing periodic budget reports, conducting variance and other analyses, to ensure compliance with sponsor terms and conditions. Required Experience in sponsored funding administration or research administrative analysis. Required Specialized experience with industry-sponsored research agreements, clinical trial agreements, confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements, off-site research agreements, SBIR/STTR agreements, state/local government agreements and foreign agreements. Preferred 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required Experience working in research administration at a university, specifially within a medical school or a non-profit research institute or hospital. Preferred Working knowledge of federal regulations, policies and procedures related to sponsored awards and regulatory compliance (e.g., OMB A-21, A-110, A-133) and of research funding mechanisms employed by extramural sponsors (e.g., multiple-PI, instrumentation, graduate training and other special programs). Minimum Requirements Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audience while ensuring adherence funding sponsor's guidelines,
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Strong ability to organize workload when faced with competing priorities and to complete work assignments on a timely basis despite frequent interruptions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer or other web browsers; experience maintaining moderately complex databases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate, using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community partners.
Demonstrated skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with others to complete tasks/projects.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA and FERPA.
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of the University of California's financial and personnel policies and procedures and the ability to interpret them, for the purpose of project scope and budget development.

Demonstrated knowledge of and working experience with University of California client/server systems.
