JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Coordinate graduate student activity; receive student applications, coordinate with the WPI graduate office for the completion of student applications to the Manufacturing Graduate Program. Maintain program budget records including research and Washburn shop budgets. Process payroll. Coordinate all lab purchases and shipments in MFE program. Answer routine phone and drop in inquires, appropriately route more complex questions, maintain computerized database, maintain confidential student files.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate graduate student activity; receive student applications, coordinate with the WPI graduate office for the completion of student applications to the Manufacturing Program.
  • Maintain program budget records including research and Washburn shop budgets. Process payroll. Answer routine phone and drop in inquiries, appropriately route more complex questions, maintain computerized database, maintain confidential student files.
  • Provide support for on campus meetings, conferences, seminars and manufacturing engineering program events.
  • Provide assistance to the research laboratories/research centers in the manufacturing program: Integrative Materials Design Center (iMdc) D. Lados; Haas Technical Center (ME 1800 Lab); Center for Advanced Abrasive Services (CAAP) C. Brown. Provide guidance/advice to the center directors regarding administrative procedures.
  • Create Parking passes, Wi-Fi requests, and room reservations. Assist with faculty and staff Zoom meeting requests. Provide assistance with textbooks and ILL ( Library ) loan requests.
  • Create announcements for seminar, proposal and dissertation exams.
  • Maintain and further develop MFE website.
  • Provide assistance to the Director of the Haas Technical Center and oversee grant accounts. Create all purchase requests and oversee the receiving of packages and lab equipment paperwork.
  • Maintain SME Scholarship Fund and SME endowment. Coordinate and maintain records of SME student chapter, annual SME Awards Dinner and all SME travel.
  • Provide assistance to the local SME and WPI SME student chapter in the form of web assistance and annual awards.
  • Provide assistance to the Materials Engineering Program office when the administrative assistant is out of the office.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma with college experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability and desire to learn new computer programs.
  • Ability to work with a large and diverse group of students, faculty and staff.
  • Experience with database programs, knowledge of WPI academic policies and procedures.
