Description

The Department of Pediatrics in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks applicants at the Associate or Full Professor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Series to serve as Associate Program Director for UCLA's Master of Science program in genetic counseling, and to provide clinical genetic counseling services across various clinics.

Requirements for the position include the following: (1) American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification, and California licensure to practice as a genetic counselor, (2) A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in field of genetic counseling, providing genetic counseling services across various genetics clinics, (3) Supervisory experience with genetic counselors and trainees, (4) Teaching experience, preferably as instructor of record, (5) Experience with clinic coordination and administrative activities, (6) Leadership experience, (7) Evidence of scholarly activities, and (8) Previous involvement with a genetic counseling master's program as instructor, supervisor, and/or research mentor.

Appointments in the UCLA Health Sciences Clinical Professorial Series are made to academically qualified candidates whose predominant responsibilities are in clinical teaching and patient care, with additional expectations of creative or scholarly achievements and service contributions to the University, to professional societies, and to the public. The expectation for this position is the faculty member will spend 55% of time on the Associate Program Director role. Working in collaboration with the Program Director and with other Program Leadership, the Associate Program Director is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of clinical training/fieldwork, including supervisor training, teaching two courses in the program per year, co-chairing the curriculum committee, assisting the Program Director with ACGC compliance, participating in the admissions process, participating in professional activities at the state and national level, participating on the Program Advisory Board, and participating on student capstone research project committees and chairing, when appropriate. The remaining 45% of the position will be spent on clinical work, creative endeavors, and service.
