Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on the original campus of Emory College in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for several tenure-track positions.

Assistant Professor of Physics (tenure-track) to begin August 2020. All areas of specialization will be considered. This person will teach introductory and sophomore-level physics courses for majors and non-majors, and will develop upper-level courses for majors. Our recently opened state-of-the-art science building is designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, innovative teaching and scholarship in STEM. In collaboration with our colleagues in the Physics Department of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the physics faculty will have an opportunity to contribute to the future vision of the physics program which embodies the National Research Council recommendations for undergraduate physics education. Candidates must be committed to outstanding teaching and continuing scholarly activity. Qualifications: A PhD in physics or related field completed by time of appointment. Candidates who have teaching experience, particularly with engaging undergraduate students in investigative laboratory exercises and using high impact pedagogies, are encouraged to apply. Assistant Professor of Quantitative Theory and Methods (tenure-track), to begin August 2020. Emory’s Institute for Quantitative Theory and Methods (IQTM; see quantitative.emory.edu) promotes the teaching, learning, and use of quantitative analysis across disciplines. IQTM currently offers undergraduate degrees in four interdisciplinary majors and one minor. The successful candidate would teach core coursework in these majors, including Probability and Statistics (QTM 210) and two one-credit courses introducing statistical computing using R (QTM 150/151). Oxford faculty regularly teach a first-year seminar course on a topic in their discipline. Teaching responsibilities may also include Introduction to Scientific Methods (QTM 110), a quantitative elective, or a course in the candidate’s disciplinary area. Areas of research interest and expertise are open. Teaching, scholarship, and service are expected; the teaching load is the equivalent of three courses per semester.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a social science discipline with an emphasis on quantitative methods or a Ph.D. in Statistics completed by the time of appointment. Two Assistant Professors of Economics (tenure-track), positions in the Division of History and Social Sciences beginning August 2020. Applicants from all fields will be considered with preference for one of the positions given to candidates with a focus in the field of health. The ideal candidate for both positions will have teaching experience that demonstrates a commitment to the teacher-scholar model and a willingness to be innovative in the adoption of high-impact pedagogies. The ability to teach both microeconomics and macroeconomics at the principles and intermediate level is required. The candidates’ research agenda should include opportunities to involve select students in research and will benefit from the resources of Emory University and collaboration with colleagues in the Economics Department of Emory College of Arts and Sciences. The teaching load is three courses per semester with course enrollments of twenty-eight or fewer students.

Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a genuine desire to teach in a liberal arts environment that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction and have their PhD in hand or firmly expected by August 2020. Short-listed candidates will be invited to interview at the 2020 ASSA meetings.

Assistant or Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing (tenure-track), with a specialization in Fiction or Poetry and very strong secondary expertise in the other genre beginning August 2020. The individual in this position will teach five courses a year: a combination of introductory creative writing courses (Introduction to Creative Writing and/or Introduction to Poetry Writing); intermediate workshops (including Intermediate Fiction); and one additional course (e.g., a Discovery Seminar). They would also be expected to build the Creative Writing program at Oxford College and be an engaged participant in the Emory College Creative Writing community.

Qualifications: Required- An MFA and/or a PhD in Creative Writing (or in English, with a specialization in Creative Writing) in hand by the time of appointment. Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching creative writing at the undergraduate level. Ability to teach creative writing courses in multiple genres. A significant publication record, including at least one book or its equivalent. A commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable- Experience in contributing to the success of a creative writing program on a college campus and overseeing student literary journals/ publications.
