Clinical Assistant Professor - Social Work/MSW Field Education Director

DescriptionTheSchool of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invitesapplications for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor / Master ofSocial Work (MSW) Field Education Director position in the Social Work program.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)and Master of Social Work (MSW) are new degree programs at UCCS, with the firststudents starting in Fall 2020. Application for Council on Social WorkEducation (CSWE) candidacy will be initiated in January 2020 with fullaccreditation anticipated by 2023. The position requires a start dateof January 13, 2020. Duties for the spring 2020 semester include programdevelopment, accreditation document preparation, student recruitment, and othertasks necessary for the launch of UCCS Social Work.

The typical time allocation for non-tenure-trackfaculty in the School of Public Affairs is 80% teaching (equivalent to 8classes per year, 4 classes in each fall and spring semester) and 20%service.  The scholar in this positionwill primarily teach graduate-level courses in Social Work, with occasionalcourse assignments at the undergraduate level as needed. The successful candidate will be prepared toteach required courses within the Master of Social Work curriculum as well aswithin an existing emphasis area [trauma informed social work practice,military social work, healthcare social work, direct social work practice(micro or macro), and/or child welfare]. Theposition requires a flexible teaching schedule to include day and eveningclasses as well as the ability to teach in a variety of formats (e.g.,face-to-face, hybrid, and online). This position reports to the Chair of SocialWork.


TheMSW Field Education Directorship is an additional administrative appointmentcompensated by a 50% reduction in teaching responsibility (equivalent to 4classes per year, 2 classes in each fall and spring semester) and a stipend forsummer work. Duties include tasks specific to managing the graduate social workfield sequence including field program administration, accreditationdocumentation, student services, and community outreach.
