DescriptionTheSchool of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invitesapplications for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor / Bachelor ofSocial Work (BSW) Director position in the Social Work program.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)and Master of Social Work (MSW) are new degree programs at UCCS, with the firststudents starting in Fall 2020. Application for Council on Social WorkEducation (CSWE) candidacy will be initiated in January 2020 with fullaccreditation anticipated by 2023. The position requires a start dateof January 13, 2020. Duties for the spring 2020 semester include programdevelopment, accreditation document preparation, student recruitment, and othertasks necessary for the launch of UCCS Social Work.


Thetypical time allocation for non-tenure-track faculty in the School of PublicAffairs is 80% teaching (equivalent to 8 classes per year, 4 classes in eachfall and spring semester) and 20% service. The scholar in this position will primarily teach undergraduate-levelcourses in Social Work, with occasional course assignments at the graduatelevel as needed. The successfulcandidate will be prepared to teach required courses within the Social Work major as wellas within an existing emphasis area [trauma informed social work practice,military social work, healthcare social work, direct social work practice(micro or macro), and/or child welfare]. The positionrequires a flexible teaching schedule to include day and evening classes aswell as the ability to teach in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face,hybrid, and online). This position reports to the Chair of Social Work.


TheBSW Directorship is an additional administrative appointment compensated by a50% reduction in teaching responsibility (equivalent to 4 classes per year, 2classes in each fall and spring semester) and a stipend. Duties include tasksspecific to accreditation, student recruitment and retention, student services,community outreach and program administration.

    QualificationsMinimumQualifications
    • Anearned Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by theCouncil on Social Work Education.
    • Aminimum of 24 months of post-MSW professional social work experience.
    • Anactive social work license in any U.S. state by the time of hire. Must haveactive social work license in Colorado within 12 months of hire.
