Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist III performs advanced professional IT activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of IT principles, practices, and procedures.

Additional Department Summary: The Web Developer in the College of Engineering will serve as the primary developer for the college's “critical path” institutional web sites, which are integral to the college's communications with key internal and external stakeholders. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of high-visibility marketing and communications-oriented web sites and web-based services. The Web Developer will hold primary responsibility for the development, production, testing and maintenance of all WordPress-based college websites and other dynamic web applications, and will be charged with continually improving the functionality and user experience for all of these sites and applications. The Web Developer is part of the central web team that establishes and manages workflows and protocols for how all top-level UA web sites are built and managed. The Web Developer is responsible for developing sites and creating applications to potentially capture, store and manipulate information within a database.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree ; OR Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and four (4) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional technology skills or project management methods and applications. May require intermediate or advanced level training or certification.

Skills and Knowledge: Proven project management abilities. Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of HTML (5), CSS, PHP, JavaScript, CMS development, WordPress, database management and web security. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or closely related technology degree and a minimum of two years experience. Experience with WordPress preferred. Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (“WCAG 2.0 AA”) preferred.
