The Department of Biology at Bucknell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in neurobiology to begin August 2020. We expect to hire at the assistant professor level but are open to considering outstanding candidates at other ranks. We seek an outstanding and enthusiastic educator with the desire to engage with undergraduates in the classroom and the research laboratory. A Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral experience is encouraged but not required. ABD candidates will be considered with the condition that the Ph.D. must be received before the second year in the job. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience and Cell Biology/Biochemistry Programs. In addition, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive pedagogy and to institutional and departmental service are also required.

An ability and commitment to pursue a high quality research program is required, with potential emphasis in, but not limited to, molecular, cellular, or developmental neurobiology. The candidate will be expected to teach an upper level course in neurobiology with a laboratory section that would enhance the curricula in Neuroscience and Biology. Other teaching responsibilities may include courses in genetics, molecular biology, or other courses that meet the general education goals of the University. Bucknell's College of Arts and Sciences is a nationally recognized leader in undergraduate education. The Biology Department provides an undergraduate education in a liberal arts context that features close interactions with a small student body. The Community
Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.
 
The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
 
The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs.
