General Description / Primary Purpose

Actively pursue the advancement of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program.

Facilitate DPT Program Faculty professional development and growth.

Teach and conduct research in the area(s) of expertise and pursue extramural funding.

Prepare and maintain CAPTE and University accreditation documents, including annual reports and the DPT Faculty evaluations.

Manage the DPT Program budgets and use of operational resources.

Maintain open communication with DPT Program, Department, College, and University Administration, Faculty, and Staff.

Oversee DPT Program student recruitment and admissions activities.

Participate in service to the University and community.

Perform tasks as assigned by the University Administration.

Earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD).

Must meet criteria for Associate Professor.

Three years of Full-Time experience in a Physical Therapist Education Program.

Six years of Full-Time Higher Education experience.

Teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Leadership, Geriatrics, Anatomy, Acute Care Physical Therapy, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, Neurological Physical Therapy, Orthopedics/Sports Physical Therapy, Pathophysiology, or Pharmacology.

Current PT license with eligibility for Physical Therapy licensure in Florida.

Experience working with diverse populations and collaboration with diverse partners in the community.

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment.

Departmental Requirements

Two years of experience as a Director of a CAPTE accredited PT Program or two years of administrative experience in a CAPTE accredited PT Program.

An established record of scholarly achievement.

This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX.
