Description:

The Technology Integration Specialist facilitates the use of technology for university staff and faculty with a focus on consultation and support for administrative offices. Analyzes work flows and specific job needs in a particular department or for an individual and recommends technology solutions. Additionally, provides traditional technical support including hardware configuration and equipment replacement. The Technology Integration Specialist is a member of the Client Services group, a customer service-oriented team. He or she is a team player who thrives in the professional and collegial environment of Information Technology Services (ITS) and helps the entire group to succeed.

STATUS: Full-Time, 12 Month, With Benefits
WORK HOURS: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
FLSA: Exempt
MINIMUM PAY: $54,155 / year. Salary Commensurate with Experience.

Essential and Related Functions:

  • Works with the Director of Client Services to ensure that the technology needs of the faculty and staff are being met.
  • Engages directly with campus users to understand/evaluate business needs and deliver best technological solutions on a consultative basis.
  • Collaborates with the Enterprise Applications group within ITS to plan and provide excellent user support for enterprise systems.
  • Assists staff in exploring, evaluating and implementing new equipment, software and other business technologies.
  • Works collaboratively with the larger Client Services group and other groups within ITS to plan for the effective delivery of services, troubleshoot issues and resolve problems.
  • Leads and/or collaborates on various ITS projects across the university.
  • Works with the Information Desk staff to respond to help requests in a timely manner and track trends to improve the overall process.
  • Manages the life cycle of computers and printers across various administrative offices. This will include hardware configuration, imaging, software configuration, deployment, maintaining inventory records, ongoing troubleshooting and repair, and decommissioning.
  • Manages several computer labs across campus.
  • Provides robust documentation of inventory, procedures and work performed.
  • Stays abreast of new technologies, evaluates possible impact/use for the university community and aids implementation when appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience in a business or technology support environment, preferably in higher education, or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset would be obtained. The candidate should have an intense curiosity about information technology, and be motivated to learn new technologies as needed. Must be customer service focused. Demonstrated consultative skills required, please identify such in cover letter. Required technical skills include configuring and supporting the Windows and Mac environments and troubleshooting technological problems. Knowledge of office productivity and e-mail tools is essential. Strong troubleshooting and communication skill are essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Types of Work:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
