Adjunct faculty are part-time (classroom or on-line) faculty hired to teach on a semester basis.

Currently seeking instructors to teach ART 114 – Interactive Media and Design, and ART 176 – Digital Photo Imaging for the Harrisburg Campus.

For ART 114 -This is a required course for the Graphic and Interactive Design students. It explores responsive design, navigation patterns from desktop to mobile, and includes an introduction to JavaScript. The successful candidate will: Understand modern responsive HTML5 layout techniques, such as flexbox, CSS grid, and custom properties; Be proficient in responsive design and navigation. Able to teach students how to design and test projects with CSS breakpoints; Be familiar with designing for WCAG accessibility; Be able to teach fundamentals of JavaScript in order to enhance the interactivity of a website and teach how to integrate CDN and third-party libraries; Have familiarity with modern web design processes and techniques and be able to explain to the business of design, content management systems (CMS) and preprocessors and package management (NPM, etc.).

For ART 176 – This course is a foundation for students in Graphic and Interactive Design and Art programs. The course explores design, digital photography and Adobe Photoshop.

Provides academic instruction and student academic support for assigned classes. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction.

Adjunct faculty must develop instructional methods for their assigned course(s). The instructional methods must pertain to the course(s) learning outcomes and course catalog description.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

For ART 114 – Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic and Interactive Design or related disciplines
Three plus years of work experience in graphic and web design
Three years of classroom teaching experience at the high school or college level.

For ART 176 – Bachelor’s of Art in Graphic and Interactive Design, Photography or related disciplines
Three plus years of work experience in graphic design and photography
Three years of classroom teaching experience at the high school or college level.

Qualifications: Preferred Experience

The successful candidate will offer evidence of design and photography by presenting a portfolio of work.

Additional Knowledge and SkillsPhysical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Working conditions: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).

PA Act 15 Clearances

As a requirement for this position, you are expected to provide current copies of the following: DHS Child Abuse History Certificate, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Information, and FBI Federal Criminal History Background Check prior to your first day of employment. These must have been obtained within the last 60 months and for the purpose of employment (not volunteer). You may submit current copies of your clearances to the Office of Human Resources at the time an offer of employment is made.
