Provides academic instruction and student academic support for assigned classes. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction. Strong candidates must possess good organizational skills, the ability to perform normal teaching duties with minimal supervision, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning. Candidates should demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential while being culturally sensitive and dependable.

Adjunct faculty may also have a responsibility for providing face to face instruction both on and off campus to local organizations, military groups, government entities, companies, and other educational institutions within HACC’s service region.

This position will be responsible for providing education as outlined above for the following discipline(s) and areas of study: Basic Construction.

Classes for this discipline typically require a minimum instructor time commitment of 40 to 120 hours scheduled in regular intervals as 2-4 hour classes that occur 2 to 5 times per week.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: HS Vocational Education, post-secondary technical school certificate OR diploma, certificate or AS degree in a construction related discipline: carpentry, electrical, plumbing/HVAC.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years’ experience in residential construction and previous experience training students. Working knowledge of MS Office products. Experience in adapting training techniques to students of both technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Qualifications: Preferred Experience

2 or more years experience in a teaching/training environment.

Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate prior to your first day of employment. These must have been obtained within the last 60 months and for the purpose of employment (not volunteer). You may submit current copies of your clearances to the Office of Human Resources at the time an offer of employment is made.
