Assistant Professor of Management

The Department of Management, Marketing, and Logistics houses over 800 majors, plus teaches a number of service courses in the College of Business (CoB). The CoB enrolls over 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students. The Management Department includes the rapidly growing concentration in logistics.

Primary Purpose:

This position will support the CoB core operations class as well as analytics, logistics and supply chain management programs and majors at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The position will reside in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Logistics, which supports the undergraduate and graduate curriculum across many majors and offers the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management, a concentration in Logistics, and a Masters of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Job duties performed for the above function:

The faculty member will teach quantitative graduate and undergraduate courses, such as operations management, business analytics, and logistics for the department of Management, Marketing and Logistics. Teaching responsibilities include course instruction in the CoB. This faculty member will also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

  • Produce original research such as peer-reviewed journal articles, proceedings, and book chapters related to the Management discipline.
  • All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.
  • Professional development includes efforts to improve in the major job duties, such as a researcher and in skills related to teaching.

Minimum Requirements:

Earned PHD/terminal degree in the discipline of operations management, logistics, business analytics, or related field from an AASCB-accredited or similarly accredited institution. ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed by the end of the current academic year. Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials). Ability to teach the required coursework and evidence of interest and capability as a teacher.

Must be able to cover courses in the primary teaching area, which is operations management.
