Position Title: Secretary/Typist (Reg PT)

Work Hours (for hourly positions): Monday-Friday 8:00 am -1:00 pm. 25 hours/week. Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be needed to meet the needs of the department.

General Summary: Performs a variety of general secretarial duties for a major campus activity or department.
Requirements:
Must be able to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions. Able to accurately type, file and record information. Failure to meet deadlines could result in delay.Education and Experience: High school education or equivalent and some secretarial experience gained through previous job related training or education.
Certifications/Licensures: N/A.
Skill Requirements: Must be able to operate various office equipment, including a personal computer and appropriate software packages or equivalent. Requires proficiency in College supported software. Should possess good communication, interpersonal and clerical skills.
Physical Requirements, If Applicable: Must be able to work in a general office environment with the ability to sit for at least 2 hours without interruption. Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.
Duties:
- Prepares reports, correspondence and forms including exams, syllabi, schedules, class materials and minutes of meetings.
- Screens phone calls; receives and directs visitors; receives, sorts and delivers mail.
- Establishes and maintains various files, records and logs.
- Prepares materials for bulk mailings.
- Responds to inquiries tactfully and courteously and answer questions and provide information in person and by telephone.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Secondary Duties (If applicable): May be required to take and transcribe oral dictation; record and maintain budgetary information; schedule rooms and facilities; maintain and process payroll forms and records; assign work to work-study students; train newly hired employees; maintain and process orders for supplies, operate switchboard and assist with registration.
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
