Hoover Institution - Hoover Fellows

A path for early-career scholars. The Hoover Institution at Stanford University seeks outstanding scholars for appointments at the rank of Hoover Fellow. The term of the appointment is five years and may be renewed. The position is located at the Hoover Institution, Stanford, CA.

The academic activities of the Hoover Institution generally fall into the areas of Economic Policy, Politics and Governance, and National Security. Candidates' work should fit into at least one of these categories. A candidate must have or expect to complete a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field, including history, international relations, political science, national security and public policy.

Hoover Fellows are expected to achieve a considerable publication record and scholarly impact through the pursuit of topics that also have implications for public policy.

Hoover Fellows are expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the Hoover Institution. There will be no teaching or formal administrative responsibilities during the appointment. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.

- A recent publication and a current working paper or draft book chapter
- A curriculum vitae
- A future research statement (two pages maximum)
- Three letters of recommendation that focus on the candidate's research and research potential.

Successful applicants will have a proven record of and potential for scholarly excellence. Applicants must have completed a PhD or equivalent degree by September 1, 2020.
