The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a full-time, Fellowship trained, board-certified Chief of Breast Imaging. Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree, board certification from the American Board of Radiology, be eligible for Virginia State Medical Licensure and have a strong commitment to quality patient care, driving innovation and commitment to teaching. Applicants must be competent in all aspects of breast imaging, including screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, radioactive seed placement and breast procedures, including core biopsy. This is a full-time opportunity to join one of the premier academic communities in the country.
Some of the unique attributes of the UVA Health System and the Department include: No. 1 ranked hospital in the State of Virginia by U.S. News & World Report, Level 1 Trauma Center, sub-specialized radiologists, clinical and dedicated research imaging equipment and free standing research building, and technology of the highest caliber. UVA's Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging includes 52 Clinical and 13 Research Faculty, 41 Residents, and 27 Fellows/Clinical Instructors.
The UVa Breast Program is cohesive, mature, and collaborative. The Breast Imaging Division consists of 6 dedicated breast radiologists working in an integrated center with Breast Surgery. In August 2020, the Breast Program will open a new multi-disciplinary center that also includes medical oncology, genetics, and plastic surgery. There are 3 additional screening sites and a mobile van - all have 3D mammography and one has ABUS. The division has a robust research program with typically 2-4 active clinical trials. Fellows include both traditional instructors and international visiting fellows.
