Position Summary

This position involves the accurate and timely completion of all reports and invoices required under the terms of the various contracts, grants, and agreements awarded to the University. The position is required to interpret, establish, and maintain award files and government documents pertaining to post-award administration of grants and contracts. Effective working relationships with personnel within the University as well as federal, state, local, and other non-profit agencies must be established.

Prepare and submit highly complex final invoices and reports as required under the terms of the contract, grant, or agreement on certain restricted accounts. This duty requires prior experience in finals report submissions. Finals must be accurate, complete, and submitted within the deadline requirements. Direct contact with the agency’s financial representatives is often required.

Prepare and submit standard invoices and financial reports on certain restricted accounts. Requires knowledge of accounting principles necessary to properly prepare the reports in accordance with sponsoring agency’s requirements. Reports must be consistently prepared, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. Review charges for allowability and reasonableness. Monitor the resulting accounts receivable: follow up on payments and any other resulting issues. Direct contact with the agency’s financial representatives is often required.

Serve as a liaison with certain academic departments, effectively communicating contract and grant requirements as necessary, responding to department contact questions, performing a limited training function, and attaining assistance from the department contacts as needed. Requires the ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner when assisting departmental contacts with sponsored project issues.

Prepare and submit highly complex financial reports requiring detailed and accurate calculation of indirect cost, review of expenditures for allowability, and verification of overall total costs. These reports typically require additional unique agency forms and expenditures backup documentation. This duty requires prior experience in financial report preparation and the knowledge of specific agency requirements. Reports must be consistently prepared and submitted in a timely manner.

Perform various other functions such as periodic review of internal reports, deleting inactive accounts, working closed/over drafted accounts, providing cost share updates to departments and initiating journal vouchers and/or budget amendments.
