A research team at Department of Information Technology is seeking four energetic students to develop computer games that can be used as the basis for teaching some programming concepts in Programming Fundamentals. The students will work closely with supervising faculty members to develop the games, develop course modules based on the games and conduct workshops in the programming classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct motivational workshops for programming fundamentals courses.
  • Design, develop, and deliver the game development modules (in the format of workshops) for key programming concepts (e.g. Boolean & if, loops & arrays, and classes & objects) that can fit in the programming fundamentals curriculum.
  • Maintain engagement with the Technology Ambassadors Program (TAP). Demo the game development modules to new TAP students and guide them develop more modules that can be used in the programming fundamentals courses.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Be familiar with Java Programming

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interests in outreach events and activities
  • Alumni of GGC’s Technology Ambassadors Program
  • Have some computer game development experience
