Position Summary:
Information Technology Services. The Life Safety Technologies Technician performs skilled communications work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of campus Life Safety systems and the infrastructure that supports those systems and equipment.

Essential Functions

Performs skilled communications work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of campus Life Safety systems and the infrastructure that supports those systems and equipment.

Follows University IT construction standards during the installation and repair of communications cabling.

Assists in the monitoring of Life Safety Systems (Surveillance, Call Boxes, Panic buttons, Security Systems, UPS Systems, and 2-Way Radio System) across all University campuses.

Assists in maintaining service inventory as to eliminate down time of systems.

Follows all safety and other risk management policies in the performance of work.

Maintains, repairs and cleans tools, equipment, assigned service vehicle, and work areas.

Responds to emergency outages as directed.

Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience Required:
Three or more years of related work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment, proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; ability to operate a University vehicle, legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment

Preferred Education:


Preferred Experience::
State of Georgia Low Voltage Unrestricted (LVU) or State of Georgia Low Voltage Alarm (LVA); knowledge of Networking fundamentals and configuration

Salary Range: $33,300 - $41,600
