Under general supervision of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Facilitator organizes and plans the activities and programs for child care program participants while providing a clean, safe, and secure environment for children to learn. The Child Care Facilitator is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

Education/Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.S.) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college with 18 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6 and a minimum of one year full-time child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

•First aid certificate.
•Early Childhood CPR required.
•May be required to complete VOC 21 (Food Preparation and Sanitation).
•Fifteen hours of professional growth required by the Department of Children and Family Services. To meet accreditation criteria, must complete 25 hours of professional development annually.

Qualifications

The Child Care Facilitator prepares and implements curriculum activities in the following areas of: motor development, arts and practical living, language, math and science concepts; organizes activities and guides children’s development in art, music, dramatic play and similar activities; directs children in eating, resting, diapering and toileting; maintains discipline and recommends or initiates other measures to guide behavior; helps children develop necessary social habits such as sharing, taking-turns, cooperating, sense of responsibility of caring for themselves and their environment; monitors daily activities of interns and volunteers; evaluates the participant’s progress every semester and informs parent/guardian of participant’s activities via parent/teacher conferences.
