Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Student Life Specialist I is responsible for the administration of one or more Student Life program(s). Serves as liaison between the program and other departments or the community. Position may supervise staff or students. Part of the Student Life Career Progression Plan.

Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for providing overall leadership and supervision for the departmental student conduct process assessment, training, and coordination of related departmental policies and procedures. The Student Conduct Coordinator will work cooperatively with Residential Communities and other Housing and Residential Communities (HRC) staff and supervisors to track specific problem behaviors and implement creative educational sanctions to eliminate such behaviors, and educate students on how their behavior negatively affects the residential communities. These plans will include development, implementation and assessment of initiatives and programs. This position will work closely with the Office of Student Conduct and Dean of Students office on Code of Student Conduct issues.

Responsible for completing required training related to UA policies/procedures and laws/regulations that create a more hospitable and respectful workplace and safer work environment.

This position requires "extra hours" work during the evening, opening and closing of the halls, staff training, and selection periods.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience with hearing student judicial cases and/or crisis response.

Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with student development theory. Committed to a non-adversarial, educational, restorative, and learning-based conduct philosophy. Ability to deal objectively and tactfully with sensitive, confidential disciplinary issues. Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative personnel; problem-solving skills; mature judgment; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with emotionally charged situations; ability to be flexible and creative. Superior organizational ability and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated commitment to expand multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities, interacting effectively with a diversity of people; fostering equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field. Investigation and adjudication experience in higher education with behavioral and non-academic misconduct, experience working with student organizations in a conduct setting, familiarity with Maxient conduct database management system.
