The Department of Finance and Economics in the McCoy College of Business
anticipates one tenure-track assistant professor position in finance, effective Fall 2020. Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate finance courses; conducting research leading to scholarly publications as recognized by the McCoy College in finance; and providing service to the students of Texas State University, the department, the college, and the profession.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in finance from an AACSB-accredited university by the time of appointment.

Candidates must demonstrate a track record of quality research, and superior teaching effectiveness at the university level.

Candidates must demonstrate experience using data analytics in an active research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications

Though candidates in all finance-related areas are welcome to apply, preference will be given to candidates with an expertise in corporate finance, investments, quantitative finance, and financial markets and institutions; especially candidates with a capability to teach these courses at the graduate level, and with the ability to integrate data analytics into and across the curriculum.

Preference will also be given to candidates with experience using financial data feeds, and with recent experience with data analysis, statistical methods, and computer programming.

Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the Financial Management Association annual meeting in New Orleans, LA in October 2019.

• Evidence of teaching effectiveness (ex: letters of reference from teaching mentors, teaching workshops, etc.); and
• Three professional references, including names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers. Letters of recommendation will be required prior to preliminary interviews. References of applicants will receive automated messages with instructions to upload letters of reference through the confidential online portal.
