General Description / Primary Purpose

Will design and execute in conjunction with the Admissions Director a cohesive program to recruit and matriculate high profile FTIC students.

Essential Duties

Job Function

As an active member of the UNF admissions team, the Assistant Director is responsible for oversight of student recruitment in assigned geographical areas. The recruitment team will report to the Assistant Director. The Assistant Director will insure there is appropriate follow-up contact with prospective students to encourage and confirm application status, participation in events, etc. He / She will disseminate information about UNF over the telephone and during on-campus visits to prospective students and parents. Establish appropriate contacts with faculty, university staff and certain key school counselors in order to support the recruitment team’s efforts to meet the profile and enrollment goal objectives. Represent UNF at high schools, college fairs, university receptions, tour presentations, webinars, camps and conventions. Recommend prospective students for admission and scholarship awards. Participate in other Admissions activities as requested which may include the development of advertisements and recruitment literature, coordinating campus events. Demonstrate knowledge of university academic and student life programs and athletics information. He/She is responsible for the oversight of the recruitment team’s response to inbound phone calls, and their responses to large volumes of electronic and hardcopy correspondence received by the Office of Admissions in a timely manner. The assistant director will coordinate and monitor outbound calls and insure the information sessions to prospective students hosted by his/her staff meet the branding and customer service expectations of Enrollment Services. The assistant director is to contribute to strategic initiatives such as enrollment and academic profile goals, commitment to a diverse campus environment, etc. He / She will also be responsible that Enrollment Services training is part of the staff’s daily activities: ex. Territory management, the Student Empowerment Approach (SEA), etc. Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing and monitoring admissions recruitment programs while maintaining workloads, work-flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization of assigned programs. Other duties include report development and the creation of quarterly presentations for Enrollment Services leadership. This person must use the computer to perform most of the functions of the position. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Admissions. Hours for this position are flexible and are coordinated based on the needs of the office. The position can be scheduled within a Monday-Saturday work week and between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Applicants are full-time and can expect to work at least a 40-hour work week. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions.

The candidate must have a Master’s degree and knowledge of admissions and financial aid guidelines, standards and procedures preferred. They must possess a proven track record of successfully recruiting targeted populations. Successful supervisory and managerial skills in both office operations and employee accountability. Candidate must have the ability to: Prepare and analyze reports related to student applications, admissions, and matriculation in addition to tracking on and off campus event activity; Develop and execute in partnership with the Director of Admission a strategic recruitment plan that reaches the appropriate student populations, admissions, and matriculation; Provide training for recruiters and support staff. Demonstrate an understanding of and experience with computer-based information systems and their role in supporting enrollment services; Successfully communicate, collaborate, and integrate with other university departments which support student enrollment; Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication and analytical and interpersonal skills; Demonstrate flexibility, fairness, and objectivity in decision-making; Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with State University System admissions policies and FTE. ? Must be an enthusiastic supporter of UNF and its programs. ? Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time in assigned recruitment areas. ? Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the university and the academic profile expectation and enrollment goals for first time in college students. ? ? Must possess strong detail and time management skills. Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks under deadline stresses. ? Basic knowledge of word processing and database accessing. ? Ability to exercise interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with prospective students and their parents, faculty, staff, and other external contacts. ? Commitment to a customer-oriented provision of service.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session.
