It is an integral part of the educational, pedagogical, and cultural life of the University as well as the greater New York metropolitan region. The Hofstra University Museum of Art initiates and facilitates rich and varied cultural and artistic explorations in an atmosphere that promotes the open exchange of ideas. The Education Department is critical to ensuring that the mission and vision of the Museum is carried out through programs and services that connect diverse audiences to works of art in the collections and/or on view in exhibitions. Education and engagement initiatives at the Hofstra University Museum seek to create an inclusive learning environment that introduces visitors to object-based inquiry as a means for formulating broader questions about and understanding of the world in which we live.

The Coordinator, working closely with and supervised by the Director of Education and Engagement, is responsible for undertaking daily administrative tasks and managing details that enable education programs and services to run smoothly and efficiently. This is a 20-hour per week salaried position, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

•Scheduling all classes and groups and coordinating Museum calendar
•Communicating with Museum staff, school district personnel, and community
•Maintaining education records
•Sending and tracking invoices and contracts for education programs
•Other responsibilities as appropriate
•Assist in the development and preparation of select gallery-based educational
programs and materials

Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree required
• Ability to work collaboratively and with a multi-disciplinary approach
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and efficient
• Proficient user of Office Suite
• Knowledge of art, art history, museum learning is helpful
