Part-Time Temporary Associate Instructional Designer, Center for Learning & Innovation



Associate Instructional Designers engage with a team of committed professionals to design meaningful learning opportunities for thousands of IWU students. Duties and responsibilities include collaborating with instructional designers, subject matter experts, courseware providers, and media or e-learning developers to build high-quality courses in the IWU LMS.


NOTE: This position is a part-time temporary role for up to 6 months and 20-30 hours per week.


Reporting Relationships:

Reportsto the Director of Learning and Innovation

Education Requirements:

Earned Bachelor's degree, certificate in instructional design, or >5 years experience in instructional design or educational development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides formatting, editing, and technical support to contributors of course content.
  • Assists in the improvement of courses through minor or intermediate revisions.
  • Using subject matter expert resources, develops course content, either directly in the LMS or through the use of e-learning software.
  • Applies adult learning theory, Quality Matters (QM), and institutional standards to the development of courses and course e-learning assets.
  • Communicates in a timely and professional manner with subject matter experts, academic unit curriculum specialists, and project managers as needed.
  • Responds to data to improve effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Experience and skills:

  • Possesses strong skills in Microsoft Office, some skill in HTML/CSS, and has the ability to troubleshoot formatting and embedded media errors. Has experience creating or maintaining online courseware or website content.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.Demonstrated ability to deliver quality work on time.
