Columbia College seeks an accomplished and talented individual to serve as its next Dean for the Robert W. Plaster School of Business. Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean provides leadership to the School's academic programs and directs initiatives that ensure growth and quality in the school.  The next Dean will work with faculty and administration to identify and develop new programs, increase enrollment in existing programs and create partnerships with internal and external constituencies.


The Robert W. Plaster School of Business is home to over 35 undergraduate programs and the Master of Business Administration.  In addition, the School houses the Fishman Center for Entrepreneurship.  Programs are offered on our home campus in Columbia, online and at our extended sites.


The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree in a business, or related field and have demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship (earned tenure a plus).  Other requirements:

  • Strong leadership skills, including an appropriate balance of nurturing and making tough decisions
  • Proven management skills, including significant experience in the role of chair or dean or the equivalent
  • Significant experience in the traditional academic world and in the adult and online education arenas
  • Proven ability to advocate for faculty and students
  • Substantial teaching experience
  • Demonstrated engagement in research and creative endeavors
  • A collaborative, insightful, analytical, responsive and energetic style
  • Experience with assessment of student learning
  • Experience with accreditation
  • Experience in development and fundraising preferred
