Function

The student assistant for the Dorothy W. Hightower CLC & Library will be required to perform basic library duties such as:
oHandling customer service and interactions with library staff in a professional, enthusiastic manner.
oLearning and becoming proficient using the Library of Congress system for shelving and retrieving books.
oAssisting students with technology questions/issues.
oMaking hourly announcements over our PA (public address) system.
oKeeping all conversation behind the circulation desk to a minimum and on work-related topics only (no chit-chat).
oMaintaining the confidentiality of patron records.
oPerforming other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
oMust be enrolled in at least 6 academic credit hours and carry a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
oMust possess professional appearance/manner.
oMust possess excellent customer/communication skills, a positive, friendly attitude & personal maturity.
oMust be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and push loaded books carts up to 50 lbs. May be required to stoop, climb and/or reach when shelving books.
oMust be familiar with college rules and procedures.
oMust be able to disconnect from cell phone/social media during scheduled work hours.
oMust maintain regular attendance, both in class and at work.
