Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a several HBOI Aquaculture Research Assistants USDA- ARS, Fort Pierce, FL. This position is located at FAU's Harbor Branch campus in Fort Pierce, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in conducting research related to husbandry marine finfish for the USDA-ARS funded seed-stock project.
  • Water quality analysis daily using meters (DO, pH, Salinity) and chemical tests (HACH).
  • Record keeping daily according to experimental protocols, data entry daily using MSExcel.
  • Fish husbandry including feeding, behavioral observation, cleaning tanks, and cleaning around tanks systems, daily maintenance of RAS systems, assisting in spawning and larval culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Six months of experience in aquaculture or fish biology preferred. College coursework may in aquaculture or fish biology may substitute for experience.

Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

Must be able to work weekends and holidays as part of a normal schedule.

Must be able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Must be able to communicate well with others involved in this project.

Salary:

$16.75 per hour
