The Division of Healthcare Engineering (DHE) in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UNC School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral research associate with deep interest in the Human Factors Engineering to study the relationships between cognitive workload and human performance in natural environments and everyday settings.

The DHE lab investigates the consequences of health information technology (HIT) design/usability, burnout, mind wandering, inattention, neurofeedback protocols, mindfulness training, and multitasking on health care providers’ cognitive workload and performance. To address these issues, we conduct mostly simulated (largely computer-based) experiments in the lab. Applicants for this position must be data-driven, detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple and changing priorities as needed to help move the research program forward. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also required for this team-based environment.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Applied Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Ergonomics, Cognitive Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology, Psychology, Human- Computer Interaction, Information Science or related field.
