The Department of Music is hiring adjuncts to instruct part time beginning Fall 2020.

Major/Essential Duties:

Job Summary: Teach courses in areas of departmental need, which could include; any instrumental or vocal studio area, music theory, music history, music education, string techniques, and/or ensemble conducting. Successful applicants will teach up to seven semester credit hours within the required discipline at on campus or off-campus sites, or online, as dictated by departmental needs and student demand; hold office hours; assist students as needed.

Occasional Duties: Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

A terminal degree in Music or a closely related field is required to teach graduate coursework. A Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preference will be given to candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.

College or university teaching experience.

Evidence of teaching excellence and/or successful performance experience.

Prior teaching experience in K-12 music settings, as dictated by specific classroom needs.

Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

Other Requirements:

  • A criminal history report will be obtained on position finalists.
  • Texas law requires that males age 18 through 25, be properly registered with the Selective Service System in order to be eligible for employment.
  • The above duties may not be performed in every position with this title and the above functions may not include all related duties that might be performed. This position requires physical activities supportive of the above job duties.
