Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under general/limited supervision, this position is responsible for significant functions in Student Outreach and Recruiting. Acts as a primary expert and provides advice and information to others. Ensures that all district policies and practices surrounding function are implemented and carried out correctly by others.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Participates in outreach/recruiting programs such as high school visits, participation in college day/night programs and special events such as Houston Hispanic Forum College Day, campus tours and on-campus eventsInteracts with and develops partnerships with church and community groups, businesses, state and local agencies to reach potential students for outreach/recruitment and enhance college/K-12/business relationshipsAssists in tracking of students for recruitment purposes and participates in tele-counseling and various communication flow processes. (e.g. email blasts, phone-a-thons, direct mailings, web correspondence, etc.)Provides advice and information to education and community partnersParticipates in outreach and recruitment activities for service area, including workshops and training programs for service area school students, parents, apartment tenants, businesses, etc. Informs students about college and system/state policies regarding testing and placement in addition to recruiting/admissions policies and proceduresParticipates and actively engages in programs designed to reach students in lower grades than high school. Uses data and best practices to drive outreach and recruitment activitiesCollaborates with college staff, faculty, and administrators to address and provide a wide variety of assistance to students in order to promote recruitment, admissions, and enrollment at the collegeCollaborates with Dual Credit Coordinator and program to facilitate recruitment and enrollment of DC studentsMaintains confidentiality of all student records and databases as related to recruitment, admissions and student successResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of a personal computer and MS Office softwareStrong commitment to customer service Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse clientele in a team environmentGood organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasksAbility to assume responsibility for independent actionsAbility to assist in training other staffAbility to maintain positive attitude in a demanding work environmentAble to work evenings and weekends in addition to a varied scheduleSpecific knowledge of recruitment, admissions and enrollment programs and policies

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary

Hiring Salary is $32,250.
