The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life at Marian University in Indianapolis, IN will be a partner with the Director and the residence life team to execute necessary tasks within the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the management of housing contracts, supervising two professional staff members, billing and fee processing, facilities management as well as summer conference services. This mid-level management position also provides student support services for residents living in on campus apartments and houses. The Assistant Director in conjunction with the Director develops and executes various annual housing assignment processes/marketing, administers the housing management database, and closely monitors facility management for all residential spaces.This position will coordinate with Campus Events staff to provide overnight conference groups with high-quality customer service. The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life will work closely with the Director and residence life team to provide a vision of vibrant residential living marked by experiential learning, transformative leadership, and service through our core Franciscan values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide high-quality customer service to residential students and families within 24 hours.
  • Improve coordination and completion of facility maintenance for room assignments and residence hall facilities throughout the year.
  • Supervise and evaluate two Area Coordinators.
  • Support the business and financial operations for the housing and residence life department.
  • Lead summer conference housing services in collaboration with campus events staff.
  • Provide support and service to residents in houses and apartments.
  • Maintain detailed records related to all housing assignments, applications, deposits and fee waivers received, and process contract cancellations.
  • Conduct data tracking for areas within the department; prepare occupancy projections in conjunction with the Director.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate various annual housing processes including resident arrivals and departures, applications, room changes, and assignments in conjunction with Director of Housing and Residence Life.
  • Serve as professional staff member in on-call rotation.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel/higher Education or related field plus significant progressive experience in residence life and/or significant experience with student development in a higher education setting
  • Progressive experience with billing, assignments, and facilities, and crisis management
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse student body and staff
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Prior experience supervising undergraduate/paraprofessional staff members is preferred
  • Previous experience with housing facility operations; student programming experience; campus/academic partnership building and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
