Position Summary:
The Project Specialist is responsible for coordination efforts between Nicolet College and the Wisconsin Indian Education Association (WIEA) to ensure deliverables are met for a grant-funded partnership project that align with tribal outreach objectives. The position supports 3 departments: business program, university transfer program, and tribal outreach. This individual acts as a point of contact, along with the Tribal Outreach Coordinator, for the Lumina Foundation – sponsored "All Learning Counts" project and will be expected to support the development and management of the working relationships with employees at Wisconsin Technical Colleges, the Wisconsin Indian Education Association, and Wisconsin tribal governments and/or their designees.

The position is based at the Rhinelander Campus and will travel to other locations throughout Wisconsin, with variable hours that may include activities that take place during the day, evening, or on weekends. Occasional overnight travel may be required. This limited-term position is funded by a grant through the Lumina Foundation through December 31, 2021. The selected candidate may be employed through the duration of the grant, subject to successful performance.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Dean of Enrollment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. Position may support or lead functions relative to the essential duties listed below. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

  • Provide high level project management support to project staff and community partners.
  • Work closely with project and program employees, tribal representatives and community partners to develop and maintain project goals.
  • Establish and develop effective professional relationships with tribal, community and technical college employees, and with members of the Wisconsin Indian Education Association (WIEA) to develop program content, agendas, and work products.
  • Organize internal/external tribal and partnership gatherings to accomplish grant funded activities.
  • Act as a resource to connect WIEA and Nicolet College on effective policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other Nicolet employees in the development and use of resources and services to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide dedicated and technical project support for meeting grant objectives.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree, vocational education with 1 year of demonstrated project management experience, or high school degree with 2 years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Knowledge of regional American Indian Culture(s).
  • Possession of a valid driver license.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in American Indian Studies, Business, or related fields.
  • Experience working in post-secondary setting and/or in tribal community.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams and individuals.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Suite programs.
  • Able to provide dedicated and technical project support for meeting grant objectives.
  • Experience with grant reporting and processing travel, training, and outreach invoices.
  • Able to organize and facilitate meetings internally and externally.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and demonstrate strong attention to detail.

  • The employee will be constantly required to sit, talk, hear, and type/write.
  • The employee will be frequently required to stand, walk, touch/handle/grasp (using hands and fingers), and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally bend or squat and lift and/or push up to 10 pounds of general office items.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, far, and field of vision.
  • This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.
Other

Compensation:
The full pay range is $22.05 to $29.19 per hour. The typical starting range is $22.05 to $23.84 per hour, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
