Assistant Director, Class Programs and Reunion Campaigns - Georgetown University's Office of Advancement

Located in a historic neighborhood in the nation's capital, Georgetown offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, exciting ways to take advantage of Washington, D.C., and a commitment to social justice. Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.

The Office of Advancement supports the mission of Georgetown University, its faculty, and students by developing relationships with key constituencies, connecting with alumni, and working with donors to help them know and understand opportunities for partnership with the university.

The Assistant Director, Class Programs and Reunion Campaigns (CPRC) manages class engagement, volunteer management, recruitment and training, and giving strategies for five undergraduate alumni classes. This individual will plan and help to market certain Reunion Weekend programs and events, as well as assist in building reunion strategy and engagement analytics. Specifically, this role will manage volunteers for five undergraduate alumni class committees, develop external fundraising and engagement goals for all classes managed, tailor and implement engagement and solicitation strategies for each class, conduct semi-complex analysis of class performance, and conceptualize, plan, manage, and implement Reunion Weekend programming, and other materials.
This Assistant Director role reports to the Director, Class Programs and Reunion Campaigns. This 16-person CPRC team establishes class fundraising goals, recruits and develops volunteers for peer-to-peer outreach and solicitation, identifies high potential donors, solicits leadership gifts, hosts world-class signature events (Homecoming Weekend and Reunion Weekend), and engages alumni and students in fundraising for Georgetown.

The Assistant Director will have duties that include, but are not limited to the following:
Strategic Design and Implementation of Class Campaigns
  • Manage the development of multi-year strategies focused on engagement, fundraising, communications, and volunteer training and retention for each class.
  • Identify, recruit, train, brief and motivate class committee members to expand the pool of volunteers, with a focus on future leadership progression and development. Devise methods to increase their knowledge about the cultivation/solicitation process and their ability to engage and communicate with classmates.
  • Provide day-to-day tactical support for class committees, including management of the assignment process and regular pro-active contact with committee members about progress with their assignments and outcome of solicitations. Monitor the quality of solicitations and ensure partnering of key volunteers with key prospects. Capture and report metrics pertaining to assigned classes.
  • Organize and coordinate fundraising efforts for each class by engaging and supporting the University's leading volunteers and donors.
  • Develop and communicate strategic solicitation programs to set and achieve external participation and dollar goals for each class.
  • Initiate and oversee all class-wide reunion gift mailings; explore creative communications techniques for print and web technologies to reach target markets.
  • Facilitate class committee meetings; identify and arrange other opportunities for volunteer engagement and donor cultivation.
  • Structure gift opportunities and collaborate with other fundraising colleagues, as needed, to maximize giving. Promote positive donor relations in person and via phone/mail.

Strategic Design and Implementation of Reunion Programs, Events, Communication, and Initiatives
  • Collaborate with team to research, conceptualize, and present Reunion Weekend concepts for programming. Focus on strategic incorporation of Advancement and CPRC goals and priorities.
  • Manage and implement select Reunion Weekend programs, featuring prominent alumni and faculty.
  • Assist with the marketing of these reunion events, with a focus on strategic partnership with on-campus departments.
  • Partner with special events colleagues to maintain adherence to reunion timelines and budget.
  • Facilitate and leverage collection of reunion analytics, to be strategically used for future reunion planning.

Special Projects
  • Develop and manage other projects to develop and enhance the mission and goals of the CPRC team, with a focus on engagement and benchmarking.
  • Attend Office of Advancement, GUAA, and other Georgetown meetings.
  • Participate as volunteer in Office of Advancement events.

  • At least 1 year of volunteer management experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

  • Extremely well organized and detail oriented, with ability to successfully handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, and consistently meet all deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to manage and motivate volunteers.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced team environment focused on continual strategy development; ability to assimilate data, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and work independently.
  • A proven ability to meet or exceed goals.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at once with minimal supervision.
  • Intellectual curiosity with an ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University.
  • Professional and collegial demeanor and ability to exercise diplomacy, judgment and tact; trustworthiness in handling confidential matters.
