The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure track, 10-month Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position in the Exercise Science Program in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2020.
- Applicants must possess a Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or closely related discipline. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2021.
- Candidates must have the training and expertise to teach Exercise Science courses in one or more of the following areas: motor learning, motor development, sports nutrition, biomechanics, fitness and exercise assessment, research methods, and/or strength and conditioning. Preference will be given to candidates that can teach across a variety of areas within the field.
- Evidence of scholarship agenda focused in an area of specialty in Exercise Science that compliments the expertise of current faculty, the course offerings, and available resources. Candidates who can demonstrate scholarship outcomes involving human subject research with potential for external funding will be given preference.
- Success working with diverse populations of students and experience in college teaching is highly desirable.
Primary responsibilities include: 1) TEACHING – provide high quality instruction in a variety of exercise science courses, develop and refine exercise science curriculum, and advise and mentor exercise science majors as the matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the profession; 2) SCHOLARSHIP – development of a focused area of scholarship that includes refereed publications, professional presentations, external funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students; 3) SERVICE – active service participation at the Department, College, University, Professional and community levels.
Department of Kinesiology:
The Department of Kinesiology, located within the College of Health Professions, has 30 full-time faculty and more than 1,400 undergraduate majors in Physical Education/Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Sport Management, and Exercise Science. The Department is also responsible for oversight of the College of Health Professions Institute for Well-Being’s Wellness Center that serves over 300 members each year with its programs that support student education and community outreach. In addition, the Department has a strong, positive relationship with the University’s Division of Athletics.
