To conduct employee and student investigations of reported discrimination and/or related retaliation on the basis of: race, color, religion, national origin; discrimination based on sex or gender, sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence, stalking, sexual orientation, and gender identity; discrimination based on age, genetic information, and veteran status; and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and/or Section 504 complaints regarding disability.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Investigates cases of alleged discrimination regarding Title VII, Title IX, Title VI and ADA from inception to findings.
  • Meets with individuals and witnesses regarding allegations discrimination and/or harassment based on sex or gender, race, color, national origin, disability status, age, veteran status, religion, and genetic information.
  • Gather and assesses evidence, determines credibility, and communicates information regarding the process, rights, and resources to the individuals involved.
  • Acts as an impartial and unbiased party in the investigation and provides detailed reports summarizing the investigation's findings. Works closely with the Title IX/Title VI/ADA Compliance Manager to review and synthesize allegations to determine applicable interim measures.
  • Addresses concerns informally, as appropriate, to prevent reoccurrence and connect individuals with resources.
  • Interprets College policies and participates in the implementation of investigatory and disciplinary processes. Exercises discretion and independent judgement regarding questions and concerns related to discrimination policies and processes.
  • Provides timely reports and updates regarding the status of the complaints received and investigations in progress to the Title IX/Title VI/ADA Compliance Manager.
  • Explains outcomes of investigation to others involved in the process, as appropriate and allowable by law.
  • Utilizes case management software (i.e. Maxient) for investigations and recordkeeping.
  • Assists with the preparation and maintenance of statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to complaints, grievances, and trends. Responsible for keeping thorough, accurate and comprehensive records related to all assigned case investigations.
  • Assists with various special assignments within the area.
  • Conducts training within the college community on investigation and compliance processes.
  • KnowledgeMust possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    Knowledge of Title VII, Title IX, Title VI, ADA, Clery Act, and VAWA. Dispute resolution, mediation, and grievance procedures. Investigation and documentation process. Higher education organizational culture, policies, and procedures. Federal and state laws regarding civil rights, discrimination, harassment and employment law.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    Proficiency in Google Suite software, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Maxient and Ellucian/Colleage (Preferred)Required Work Experience

  • Two years related work experience.
  • Preferred Work Experience

    Demonstrated experience conducting employee and student compliance investigations, preferably in a higher education setting.Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred Education

    Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, student affairs or higher education.Special RequirementsLicenses/Certifications; Other

    Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel to multiple campus locations.Other Preferred Qualifications

    Training in Title IX investigations (Preferred).
    Training in employment law and workplace investigations (Preferred).Physical Requirements

    Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to speak and hear clearly in conversation and general communication including telephone and face to face interactions. Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds. Regular travel across a multi-county service district.Safety
