Requirements

Faculty Assistant - Office of Faculty Support, Georgetown University Law Center

As a member of the Office of Faculty Support, the Faculty Assistant serves on a team of faculty assistants who support the teaching and scholarly responsibilities of full-time law faculty members. Each assistant provides professional support to, on average, ten to twelve assigned faculty. Support services may include assisting faculty with the entire range of their Georgetown teaching responsibilities, committee assignments, and scholarly work. Duties include but are not limited to:

Logistical Support
  • Utilizing University travel systems, assists with travel arrangements and reimbursements for university-related travel
  • Provides scheduling and calendar support for Georgetown meetings or conferences
  • Coordinates with A/V, IST, the Mail & Copy Center, external vendors, and Event Services for meeting and event support
  • Coordinates office supply requests and requests facilities assistance for faculty

Course Management Support
  • Assists with Canvas tasks including: sending announcements, creating modules, creating appointment slots for office hours, and posting slides
  • Assists with the preparation of class materials and communications - including class rosters, photo seating charts, syllabi, and presentation slides

Communication Support
  • Assists with the creation and editing of faculty members' university-related correspondence and presentations
  • Answers telephones, meets and escorts guests, greets visitors and students, provides information, takes phone messages, and transfers callers or visitors to other departments as needed
  • Prepares, sends, and receives Georgetown-related faxes, FedEx, courier, and mail deliveries

Scholarship and Research Support
  • Supports faculty scholarship by scanning, photocopying, and indexing or compiling research materials, books, and files
  • Communicates requests to the Library on matters including scholarship updates, overdue books, and book requests

Teamwork and Professional Development
  • Attends and actively participates in team meetings
  • Works collaboratively with other faculty assistants
  • Provides coverage for other faculty assistants as needed

Qualifications
  • At least two years prior experience in administrative support and/or customer service roles.
  • Experience with the practical application of routine office practices and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with a wide range of individuals.
  • Past experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe.
  • Must possess the ability to gain proficiency with other office and campus technologies (including GMS/Workday, Concur, and Canvas).

Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and previous experience in higher education or a law office environment
