Accreditation and Compliance Services Specialist

Job Purpose
Towson University is accepting applications for an Accreditation and Compliance Services Specialist in the Academic Affairs Division. This position is responsible for activities associated with: academic program reviews, reviews of academic departments, substantive changes to academic programs and curricula; compliance of academic programs to the requirements set forth by the University System of Maryland (USM) and, if necessary, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC); development of internal and/or external reviews of proposed new academic programs; substantive modifications of academic programs; and development and maintenance of the Accreditation and Compliance Services web pages, as well as the Towson University Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Reaffirmation of Accreditation, web pages. The position will work closely with, and report to, the Director of Accreditation and Compliance Services as well as collaborating with the Office of Academic Assessment, Institutional Research Office, and other relevant university offices.

Description
Submits relevant documents and required reports regarding academic program reviews, substantive changes to academic programs and curricula to the USM and, if necessary, to the MHEC; performs activities associated with compliance of academic programs with USM, MHEC, the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), MSCHE, and other relevant state and/or federal regulations; assists colleges and academic departments with preparation of relevant documentation needed for academic program proposals and professional accreditation self-studies; assists departments to manage internal self-study and external review as part of the Review of Academic Department (RAD) process; assists the chair of the Towson University Subcommittee on Institutional Effectiveness with preparation of relevant documentation and institutional effectiveness reviews and activities; maintains repository of all academic program proposals, approvals, MOUs, and professional and regional, state, and other accreditations, as well as for materials associated with MSCHE accreditation; and develops and maintains the Accreditation and Compliance Services web pages, as well as the Towson University MSCHE Reaffirmation of Accreditation web pages, and Towson University Subcommittee on Institutional Effectiveness, web pages.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in administrative staff work. Superior communication skills; superior professional interpersonal relationship skills; collaborative and courteous professional demeanor; strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills; ability and initiative to work independently but to seek assistance when necessary; and the ability to perform job duties well under strict time sensitive deadlines.

Preferred: Three or more years of administrative staff work experience in higher education setting; experience working in higher education accreditation and/or assessment activities; experience in professional and/or institutional accreditation efforts, and/or with USM, MHEC, MSCHE; and post-bachelor degree(s) and/or certification(s).

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Salary and Benefits
