The Assistant Director of Campus Activities and Programs is a key member of the Campus Activities and Programs (CAP Center) team who reports to the Director of Campus Activities and Programs. Primary responsibilities include creating fun, robust and engaging large and small-scale social and educational programming, advising Bucknell’s student programming board ACE (Activities and Campus Events), oversight of Uptown and MacDonald Commons social programming spaces, advising additional student groups, coordination of best practice research and assessment, and divisional projects. This team member will deliver student-centered programming that provides incredible personal growth, exciting diverse programs, and awesome social experiences. The Assistant Director will participate in an on-call rotation for weekend social programs.

Job Duties
Supervision:
• Supervise 50+ student staff in a variety of capacities. Responsible for selection, evaluation, and training of staff. Mentors and guides students to provide excellent student-centered customer service.

Advising:
• Serve as Adviser to ACE, including budget and risk management, contract procurement, and student selection and training. Guides and supports ACE to provide a dynamic and diverse array of co-curricular experiences for students on weekends.
o Large-scale programs include, but are not limited to, Chrysalis, Center Stage, Bison Sound, Fall Fest and major concerts.
• Responsible for negotiation, procurement, and contract negotiation for ACE, Uptown, and department items as needed.
• Ensure compliance with university risk management policies.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and direction for the CAP Center Street Team, which creates promotional and marketing opportunities for all CAP Center programs.
• Oversee Social Media marketing strategies and initiatives and maintains all of CAP Center social media accounts.

Uptown and The Commons:
Uptown and The Commons are popular and unique entertainment venues open to students throughout the academic year and serve as a central hub for social gatherings. Uptown is equipped with a wide range of technical equipment to host performers and entertainment. The space is monitored by student workers and event managers. Student managers not only run Uptown, but over the years they have left their footprint on the space, making it truly a fun, unique social space.
• Oversee all operations, staffing, programmatic functions, and budget aspects of both spaces.
• Ensure compliance with University risk management policies.
• Create and participates in co-sponsorship programming when appropriate.
• Mentor and advise students to make the spaces a go-to place where everyone feels welcome and a part of the campus community.
• Seek opportunities to partner with faculty colleagues to provide a seamless education for students.

Programming:
• Serve as the primary point person for small and large-scale CAP Center social/entertainment programs.
• Primary coordinator of Activities Unlimited and multiple student organization fairs throughout the academic year.
• Responsible for Summer Programming social/entertainment programs.
• Serve as the secondary point person for small and large-scale CAP programs including but not limited to Chrysalis, Center Stage, Bison Sound, and Fall Fest.
• Seek opportunities to partner with faculty colleagues to provide a seamless education for students.

Web and Technology:
• Oversee marketing strategies and initiatives, and maintains all of the CAP Center social media accounts.
• Work with Library and Technology liaison in creating efficient and effective ways to use technology in student programming.

Divisional Involvement:
• Attend divisional meetings and retreats.
• Maintain a high degree of visibility and availability to students and staff members.
• Seek collaborative opportunities when appropriate and possible.
• Serve on departmental committees as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:
• Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
• A passion for student-centered excellence.
• Demonstrated programming experience.
• Exceptional communication and collaborative skills.
