Opened in 2002, The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver is acclaimed as one of the nations finest performing arts centers.

Unique in the region for its size, acoustic quality, and caliber of artists, the Newman Center is dedicated to showcasing cultural diversity, stretching the imagination, and stimulating dialogue.

The Newman Center hosts nearly 500 performances each season with up to 120,000 people in attendance. As a creative and effective leader in arts education, the NCPA has served as an artistic gathering place and an economic engine elevating Denvers reputation as the Cultural Capital of the West.

Position Summary

The Business Operations Assistant provides support directly to the Director of Business Operations in the areas of accounting, food & beverage, parking and other facility operations as needed. This position will work 15-20 hours per week, $20/hour.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Enter daily accounting transactions related to box office, concessions and parking activity
  • Maintain food and beverage inventory and request orders to resupply
  • Analyze and oversee concessions and parking revenue and expenses
  • Work with various staff on operations projects as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Experience with food/beverage operations, concessions or similar operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-direct
  • Ability to manage sensitive, confidential material in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-direct.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting or operations roles.
  • Experience with food/beverage operations, concessions or similar operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing financial data and providing recommendations to address financial concerns
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience with basic accounting concepts and entries.
  • Experience handling and reconciling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Working, professional interest in the performing arts.

Working Environment:

  • Time will be split between a standard office environment and being physically active conducting inventory counts, receiving inventory, and providing general logistical support to the business operations of the Newman Center.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule

15-20 hours/week, varies
