• Assist with necropsies on animal carcasses and report appropriate findings in laboratory database for pathologist review
• Interpret histopathology slides of necropsy submissions and report findings to pathologist
• Read biopsies and report findings to pathologist
• Conduct appropriate research and publish findings
• Provide consultations with veterinarians and livestock farmers
• Provide instruction, as required, for the Animal Health Technology curriculum
• Perform special projects as determined by Head of Pathology
• Recognizes, documents, and provides input to correct substandard quality
• Develops, reviews and evaluates processes as necessary

Minimum Education Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent is required

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

• Alertness, memory for verbal and written directions and details, analytical ability, ability to logically plan and organize analytical processes
• Pleasant, proactive personality, ability to handle demanding situations, ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere
• Ability to interpret and verify test results
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications

• MS or MPH preferred
• Animal Diagnostic Laboratory experience preferred

Physical Demands

This job requires dissecting animals, handling hazardous materials and biological contaminants (e.g. blood), strong pungent odors, and lifting up to a minimum of 40 lbs.
