Assistant Professor of Latinx History/Studies

Requirements

The Department of History and the Program in American Studies at Georgetown University invite applications for a joint tenure-line Assistant Professor of Latinx History/Studies, with a preference for a scholar and teacher working on the twentieth or twenty-first centuries.

We are particularly interested in applicants whose work on Latinx history and culture in the United States explores issues of migration and labor; race, gender, and citizenship; and/or culture, politics, and social justice.

A PhD is required by the position's start date of August 1, 2020. We will consider applications at the rank of beginning Assistant Professor or advanced Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda while dividing teaching and service responsibilities 50-50 between the Department of History and the Program in American Studies. At Georgetown, both units have a reputation for nurturing engaged scholarship. We welcome applicants whose work in Latinx History/Studies addresses multiple audiences and tackles issues of public concern.
