Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION(S):  Responsible for operations, management and support of programs and activities occurring in the Campus Center and Davis Ballroom facilities which contribute to overall student satisfaction and student learning.  Work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff to ensure the smooth implementation of programs. Serve as a liaison with building and Dining Services, the Events Management Office, the Bookstore, Post Office and other campus service providers supporting Campus Center programs and events. Supervise custodial staff, the Operations Coordinator and Campus Center student staff.  Research and design effective Campus Center management-related policies and practices.






Facility Management (30%): Conduct regular assessment of Campus Center and Davis Ballroom facilities and operations to ensure the effectiveness of programs, activities and services in promoting student satisfaction and learning. Ensure Campus Center facility policies, practices and services are attentive to and supportive of universal design, diversity, equity and inclusive education and issues.  Ensure policies and practices are in accordance with the needs of the college and nationally accepted best practices. 




Event Management (30%): Work closely with students, staff and faculty to ensure that facilities and services support the broad range of activities and programs occurring in the Campus Center facilities and Davis Ballroom throughout the year.  Oversee building setup sheets and building inventory. Coordinate technical support for events in the Campus Center, manage the use of permanent and campus pool AV and other technical equipment, and arrange for necessary service, repairs and upgrades.  Conduct event consultations for student organizations programming in the Carroll Room, Art Wall, Davis Ballroom and on Chapin Lawn throughout the year.  Conduct event consultations for faculty and staff programming in the Campus Center as needed.




Supervision (30%):  In collaboration with Building Services, supervise custodial staff assigned to the Campus Center; in collaboration with Facilities Management coordinate maintenance services provided to the facility.  Hire, train, and supervise the temporary weekend custodians. Hire, train, supervise and schedule in When to Work the student Campus Center Managers and Campus Center Service Associates. Hire, train, supervise and schedule in When to Work the student reunion staff and the summer staff. Coordinate the summer projects list. Supervise the Operations Coordinator.




Miscellaneous (10%): Assume responsibility for special projects, committee work and other duties as assigned. Back up other staff needs as necessary.  Manage the OSE website. Support the leadership of the office under the Director of Student Engagement.






Education /Experience: Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field preferred, Bachelor's degree required, and 3-5 years of experience in program operations, management of higher education activities, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 




Skills:  Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and manage programs.  Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, exercise effective independent professional judgment; establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, staff, and external vendors; and related successfully in one-on-one and group situations with persons of diverse backgrounds and interests.  Knowledge of or ability to learn principles, practices and theories of student learning and development; understanding of the cultural, social, recreational, and educational needs of students; experience in operations planning and support of programs and activities; experience in managing technical equipment (AV, including computer based AV) preferred.
